Lone Wolf Kennels
Established originally in 2018 we are dedicated to the preservation,
continuation and quality of the American Bully.
Our Program's Training Phases
Our dogs go through extensive training before being placed with their matched handler. We have our dogs go through 7 phases of training over the course of 1-2 years from the time the dog is acquired into our program.
~Evaluation~
We evaluate the dog and perform a series of tests to determine whether the dog would be a good candidate for service work. It’s important to note that not all dogs pass into our program, very few dogs meet the temperament for this line of work.
Phase 1
The dog begins to learn basic obedience and foundation communication skills with their trainer. During the phase the dog is also socialized properly to other dogs, different environments and people.
Phase 2
The dog now begins to learn advanced obedience as well as proper manners. During this phase dogs are being prepped for public access by learning important skills needed for PA
Phase 3
The dog begins to learn basic public access skills and begins to start short outings in non crowded public places. During this phase the dogs start to learn proper body manners and confidence.
Phase 3x
The dog begins to do a bit longer outings as well as begin to learn more about their body awareness skills.
Phase 4
The dog is introduced to different situations one may experience in public, different sights, sound and surfaces as well as going on longer outings in a more variety of places.
Phase 5
The dog begins to start basic task training. At this point in time the dog is matched with a handler that best suits them.
Phase 6
The dog begins to learn tasks that are specifically needed by the handler. The dog begins to do short outing with thier matched handler at this point.
Phase 7
The dog begins to work with its matched handler full time and learns to communicate accurately with the handler and stays part time with its new handler and part time with its trainer.
Public Access Test
All of our dogs must pass the public access test with thier new matched handler without the dogs trainer at the location. These tests are performed by our founder and behavioral specialist Alex Wolfe.
Graduation
Once the dog has passed all phases and the PAT the dog is graduated from our program and officially permanently placed with thier handler.
